Alex & I were very saddened to hear the news of Bill's passing. I have such wonderful memories of the times our families shared on Huntingwood drive in Agincourt.
Mom & Dad so enjoyed your afternoon visits for a drink and M&M appetizers. Those were wonderful years.
Midge, you and Bill were a wonderful support to my Mother after my father passed. It brought me such comfort to know you were close and you would be direct in telling me what was needed to keep her safe. I am forever grateful to you both.
May peace, comfort and strength come to you all from loving memories of him.
Love, Alex & Mary Hall

Please accept my heartfelt condolence on Bills passing, I was soo saddened to hear of his passing today.
Bill had a smile that would brighten the room when he brought his Buick Verano in for the service....
He always had a kind word for me & always asked about my family in Newfoundland.....
He and I would always say "Its not always about the car maintenance ,but its the friendships we make along the way...
He was soooo right !!!!! He will truly be missed....

Good morning, Midge and family. I was saddened to read of Bill's passing in this morning's Globe and Mail. Although I never met Bill, I felt that I knew him. Growing up in Niagara Falls, Bill's mother, Alice Killough, was our "overnight" babysitter for more than 12 years. We called Bill's mother "Mrs. K" because the surname Killough was seemingly too difficult to pronounce for a young child. Mrs. K was wonderful to us. Mrs. K was very proud of her son and would talk about him all of the time. She spoke warmly of Bill's family, her daughter-in-law Midge, her grandchildren, and Bill's role at Hydro. On our wedding in day in July of 1984, Bill drove his mom to our wedding in Willowdale. Getting married without Bill's mom in attendance would not have been right. Last fall, after I saw the 70th wedding anniversary announcement that your children took out in the Globe and Mail, I was able to call Bill at Swan Lake here in Markham. I had a delightful 30 minute conversation with him about his family, his mom, Niagara Falls, and early Niagara Falls radio history. It also provided me with an opportunity to share with him how much his mother had meant to our family. He was amazingly smart, articulate (as would seem natural for someone with a radio pedigree), and personable as he spoke with me. On behalf of the Carruthers family, please accept our sincere condolences on your family's loss. May eternal light shine upon the soul of Bill, his Dad, and his dear mother, Mrs. K, and may his memory be a blessing.
Sincerely,
John Carruthers

In 1948 Bill met Midge at CJOY radio station in Guelph, ON where Bill worked as a technician and Midge was the station receptionist, marrying a few years later in 1950. In 1953, Bill joined Ontario Hydro, from where he worked, later retiring after 35 years. Bill was known for his great wit and loved to write limericks, which he gave to friends and family. Bill loved to sing and joined his first choir when he was 16. Both Bill and Midge sang in numerous choirs, together and separately. Bill was president of a Men's Choir, known as the Men of Note. They loved to travel and ventured to Europe numerous times, including Egypt where they had fun times riding camels. Bill will be dearly missed by all who knew him and his wonderful sense of humour. On his way to bed every evening, he would always remark "Don't think it hasn't been pleasant'....
