Joseph Czako

Obituary of Joseph Czako

Czako, Joseph.   It is with heartful sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Father and Grandpa Joe at Cummer Lodge in North York on Tuesday June 1,2021 in his 83rd year.  He will be missed by daughter Helen and husband John Stuart and his grandchildren Jay, Samantha and Fiancé Edward Rhodes.

Born in 1938 in Fegyvernek, Hungary he and his sweetheart Agota Nagy escaped Hungary in 1956 during the revolution and made passage to Canada aboard an Italian Vessel landing in Quebec as Immigrants. Settling in Toronto they were married in 1957 where they started a new life together.  With hard work and endurance, they moved and settled in Markham, buying their first home in 1965.

Heartfelt thank you to all support and staff from the Special Care Unit and 3rd floor South wing where Joseph was a resident for 5 years. Although we had not been able to visit him in person since February 2020 due to Covid we knew that all staff had gone above and beyond to keep him safe and happy.

Due to Covid limitations there will be a private family funeral at Dixon Garland and internment at Elmwood Cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside his wife Agota (nee Nagy and predeceased in 1992) on Friday June 4th. Great Love Lives On.

Donations to Heart and Stroke and Cummer Lodge, 205 Cummer Ave, North York M2M 2E8 in Joseph’s name are welcomed and appreciated.
