Years ago, there was a story in the Stouffville Tribune Newspaper about an angel someone met at Markham Stouffville Hospital. I wrote this letter to the editor of the paper.
Hi Jim,
I really enjoyed your story of the angel you met at Markham-Stouffville Hospital. It reminded me of my brother, Cliff Kennedy, who is one of those 'angel' volunteers who works tirelessly in our hospital. He is loved by all the staff and brightens everyone's day when he is there. When Cliff retired a couple of years ago, I suggested that this might be something that he would enjoy as he loves to make you laugh, enjoys being around people, comforting and helping out. Like all volunteers at the hospital, he gets his 'runners' on and helps the nurses with whatever they need, doing coffee runs for them, even dusting and cleaning their counters and desks. He is a gofer, he goes for this and for that. The patients love him and he, in turn, gets great enjoyment out of helping others. When not working at the hospital, he goes on 10 kilometer walks with his next door neighbour, who is also retired. But on those days he works, he says he gets all the walking that he needs. I am so proud of him and all he does on his own time!
From a very proud sister,
Donna Boadway

Pam we have wonderful memories of Cliff and of our time with you and your family!! Cliff's warmth and loving laughter always filled our hearts with joy. We so enjoyed our times in your home and were always refreshed in spirit and body (delicious food)!! I do want to mention how much we enjoyed Cliff's multiple ministries in our Markham Missionary Church! One I want to mention here on behalf of our son, Christopher, was Cliff's devotion to the Awana Club (supporting you in your leadership) and "car models and races"!! Lasting friendships were made there and great times enjoyed by all of us!! We remember Cliff with thankfulness to God for His life in him here on earth!! Sending you, Pam deep love and praying for your comfort and God's enduring strength and the same for all your family members!! As we heard in his beautiful service, Cliff is alive today and rejoicing with His Heavenly Father!!
Lovingly, Lois and Winston Thurton

My deepest and most sincere condolences goes out to the entire Kennedy family. I was deeply sadden to hear the news about Cliff. Cliff played a very important role in my childhood as he was my AWANA leader. Having worked with Cliff at Markham District High School, his joyful laughter always filled the halls. He will be dearly missed by many including myself. - Tyler Murphy
