I was devestated to hear the news of my good old friend Ian. Although we lost touch the last several years he's always been on my mind. We had so many great memories and stories to tell. He was honest, genuine and had a great sense of humour. Love you brother. You will be missed. My sincere condolences to Al, Leslie and family.

Ian had an inspirational spirit.
I am reminded of his love, his light, his devotion, and his spirit… oh the memories buddy…
A little brother I always wanted…
I missed him over the years
Wished we had spent more of the good times together – something we had planned…
Was a beacon when he spoke at my Mom’s funeral… he was so moving.
I will remember all the good and all the bad moments of our lives – they brought us together.
I remember a young boy walking along the parking lot of the funeral home , head down, the weight of the world on him…too young to know what hurt awaited him losing his farther at such a young age… I cried more that day then I have ever done in all my life… I remember my father sitting in the Burgess’s kitchen the day of my Uncle Ian’s funeral. He was with another gentleman and I couldn’t control my emotions, tears just flowed down my cheeks… the gentleman sitting with my Dad said “she’s really torn up; you’d have thought it was her Dad that passed”. That stuck with me till this day. This was the first time I had ever experience death and it was my Uncle… and yes – it felt just like that…
Ian, young beautiful soul, you sit with a monument of soldiers before you and may they grace you with their wisdom, humor and love… Say Hi to folks for me…
Love you buddy!

I am so shocked and saddened. I saw Ian just as he was moving.. I miss talking with him while he was doing many different jobs on the house. I'd see him daily almost walking my dogs. My thoughts and prayers are with the Burgess family.

My deepest sympathies go out to Al! I have the greatest memories of Ian always making everyone laugh. I ran into him a few years after high school and he was filling me in on what he had been up too and I remember being so proud of him! When we said goodbye he gave me a bone crushing hug! Rest In Peace!

Shocked and saddened to hear of Ians passing.
I remembermany kids climbing onto the school roof to collect tennis balls, Ian was always the one that got caught.
The nickname "Snail" staying with him, because he was the slowest kid in the hockey change room.
Giving our very large dog piggy backs...so many happy memories,
Sincere condolences to Leslie-Ann, Alastair and the whole family.

My heart is broken, Ian lived directly behind our house for over 25 years. We would put our pool ladders on the fence so they could climb over it into each other's yard's. I spoke to him just before his sister and sister and him moved. He was so excited. I was so happy for him. My heart is broken. God love you Ian.

This is very sad news. I have lovely memories of Ian. Our dogs were obsessed with him. He was good friends with my brother Ben growing up, and he was so funny and weird. He was one of our family's favourite people.
