Obituary of Wilma Jocelyn Petch

PETCH, Wilma Jocelyn

(nee Ferguson)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wilma on February 25th, 2021 at the age of 87.

Predeceased by her husband Lyle Petch. Beloved Mother of Dani, Lisa and Kelly (Glenn). Dear Grandmother of Jasyn, Sofi, Saam, Suzie,Rachel, and Lindsay. Great Grandmother to Sammy Lyle.

Wilma was a very active volunteer in Markham, founding member of the Markham Guild of Village Crafts, and a founding member of the Markham District Historical Society leading to the creation of the Markham Museum. She was a lover of history, antiques and an expert at Pioneer Crafts. She worked at Black Creek Pioneer Village and taught at Seneca College. She also co-owned a knitting store in Unionville. In later years, she joined a writing group and wrote many stories about her life. Always loved, she will be missed for her empathy, sense of humour and generosity.
