Obituary of Emily Jane Kerr
It is with great sadness we announce our beloved daughter Emily earned her angel wings February 21, 2021 at Markham Stouffeville Hospital, with her mother and father holding her close.
Emily was known for giving the biggest hugs imaginable, enough to pull you over if you weren’t careful. Her smile and personality would light up a room, and her laughter was infectious, heartfelt, and at times sassy. She enjoyed singing, laughing, watching videos (Barney & Dora), and spending time with her friends and family. Her genuine love for those around her flowed freely and without limits.
Although Emily was only with us for a short while, the everlasting memories that she leaves behind will live forever in our hearts.
She will be dearly missed by her friends, teachers & classmates at James Robinson Public School, Bill Crothers Secondary School, Steer Day Program, as well as those at Participation House, where Emily called home for the past 3yrs.
Emily is survived by her mother Laura Meffen (Bob), father Scott Kerr (Ellen Peterman), brother Tyler, step sister Brianna and step brothers Josh & Ben. She will be missed by her many aunts and uncles - Marnie & Dan McCormick, Rob & Kara Cox, Steven Kerr, Sandy & Don Symons, Susan & Marc Luff, Kelly & Kevin Holiday and her long list of cousins Katie, Connor and Shannon McCormick; Maelle & Abel Cox; Caleb, Becka, Bethany & Nathan Symons; Maddy, Sam, Matt, Luc & Jake Luff; Nate, Carson, Aurora & Dylan Holiday.
Emily was blessed to be adored by her grandparents Ron & Diane Kerr, Jane & Tom Lyle, Alex & Brenda Cox, Step Grandparents James & Evelyn Morrow and her great grandmothers Margaret (GG) Graham and Dorothy Sanderson.
We would like to thank all the staff at Markham Stouffville Hospital ICU for all their care and support during Emily’s stay.
A private service will be held. Virtual broadcast details will be shared shortly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to any of the organizations listed on the left, who held a special place in Emily’s heart.
