1930-2021

Passed away peacefully in her home at Swan Lake community in Markham, ON on February 7^th, 2021.

Loving wife of the late Edward Mathers (1978). Beloved mother of twins, John (Amanda) and Tom (Ellen).Proud Grandmaman to Rebecca (Jesse), T.J. (Diana), Nina (Torsten), Breanne and Andrew (Cheyenne). Dear GGma to Dylan, Nolan and Thomas.

Denise was born in Montreal to John and Pauline Capra. She grew up alongside her two sisters, Huguette Cappadocia and the late Johanne Hébert and later moved to Rosemere to bring up her family. From there she moved to Piedmont and subsequently settled in Markham. She was so proud of her family; they were her pride and joy. Her quiet grace, kindness, hospitality and love of animals will be missed by her family and friends.

We would like to thank Dr. Pasricha, as well as, Sandi and her staff from Caring Hands Home Health Care whose care and support were instrumental in enabling Denise to stay in her home until the end.  Our deepest gratitude goes out to Marie for her thoughtfulness, compassion and dedication to helping Denise over the last four years.

As per Denise’s wishes, a cremation has taken place.
