Dear Karl, Mark and Janice, I was terribly saddened when I heard of Grace's passing. I have so many fond memories of the New year's Eve celebrations we had together all those years ago, and how Grace could turn any circumstance into a story that would have us laughing. She was always so laser sharp. With sincere condolences on your loss, Sandra Thwaites

My twin daughters, Tara & Tami were very fortunate to have Mrs. Burden for their 1st two years of schooling. JK and SK. She was a wonderful teacher at Presteign Heights in East York. As their Mom, I felt confident they were in her care as she was wonderful. We had our chats and we laughed after she called me in for a meeting. She had taken all students aside after one term and asked what they had learned. She assured me both my daughters were asked separately and they had both replied, “Nothing!” Grace was so concerned they were bored and asked what should we do?? I did a lot of home schooling, so much was repeated for them, but I assured her they were very happy students in her class. We had a good laugh about that.
Mrs. Burden, not sure if you knew, but Tami & Tara have been teachers for 21years. They love their students and teaching as you did.
You were a wonderful role model for them. Thank you!
RIP.

Rev. Burden, I was honoured to meet you and your family on the occasion of St. Paul's, (Oakville) 50th anniversary. I seem to remember three lovely granddaughters who accompanied you and your wife that day. It was such a pleasure to make the acquaintance of a ministerial family who'd served the church before my time at St. Paul's. After all, I'd been looking at your photo on our "Rogues Gallery" wall for years! That day brought you all to life, for me.
Be kind to yourselves in the days and weeks to come and as they say, "Hold hands and stick together!"
With sincere and heartfelt condolences on the loss of your dear Grace,
Fay Copland,
Oakville

Dear Karl, Mark, and Janice....
I am so very, very sorry to hear of Grace's passing. So many fabulous memories of Grace at Wm. Burgess School when I was a young teacher there. Grace was a huge support both professionally and personally.
On the morning that I heard that my wife, Bev, and I had been chosen to adopt our son, having told Grace, she leapt into my arms in front of her first floor classroom to congratulate me. Thank goodness Grace was a diminutive person!
Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very, very difficult time.
We would be honoured to attend a Memorial Service when it is possible.
Requiescat in pace dear Grace.

Dear Karl, Janice and Mark,
I am deeply shattered to read this notice in the Toronto Star today.
Grace and Karl , you were both so kind to me when Grace and I taught at William Burgess PS together in East York , and after my marriage to Ron.
She was such a vibrant spirit and extraordinary teacher.
Grace and I laughed, joked , commiserated and, I believe , cherished each other as great friends.
I know that we’ve lost track of each other in the last few years, but I actually thought of her this past week.
Perhaps she waved at me on her way to Glory.
Please accept my deepest condolences.
Grace will be organizing a Tai Chi class beginning next week. :-)
If you allow friends when you celebrate her life aprés this terrible Pandemic, please contact me.
It would be an honour to celebrate dear Grace with you.
Safe in the arms of Jesus.
No more sorrow. No more tears.
May your memories bring you much comfort
Love and blessings.

I was saddened to hear about Grace’s passing. My condolences to Karl and Grace’s family. When I first met Grace I was pleasantly surprised by her feisty personality. It was always a pleasure talking to her; she brought the best out in people, and for myself, she always made me laugh.
