Neil and Donna Collins posted a condolence

Jennifer and Scott, your sorrow is felt across the miles and our hearts by Donna and I. John was my big brother, part time father, and our mother’s support for many years.
His greatest joy in life was being your father.
He taught me how to fish, drive a car and repair it, and much about outdoor life in general. Although we grew distant in the years that followed we always knew we could count on one another. In recent years we began to shore up our relationship and it was very good getting to know each other again.
Your Dad was many things to many people, but mostly he was a friend when they needed one.

Dear Scott and Jennifer, Gayle and I were very sorry to learn about the passing of your father. He was a kind, generous and principled man who loved you, and was very proud of both of you.
I knew your Dad for 65 years, since we were both teenagers in the Anglican Church group in Scarborough. We had travelled together, and saw both coasts of Canada, as far north as James Bay and a lot of areas in between, including Expo 67. I would mention that these trips were made in your Dad’s big red 1964 Ford Galaxie. Oh how he loved that car as it was both big and fast. We also played baseball, went snow and waterskiing, boated, fished and camped together.
Although in recent years we didn’t get together as often, we remained in touch and were always there for each other.
Farewell good friend, keep your paddle in the water and your fishing rod handy, wherever you go. Thank you for being such a good friend all these years.

Dear Scott and Jennifer,
I’m so sorry for your loss. I can remember your Dad from way back when we were kids, and the 2 things I recall most are his kindness and strength. There’s no doubt in my mind that strength lives on in both of you, meaning a piece of him does as well and it will help get you through this difficult time.
All the best,
Ben Davis

Dear Scott, Jennifer and Phil,
Our thoughts are with you all in this difficult time. We have such fond memories of your dad and know he loved you very much. We are so grateful you were able to spend time at his side, despite restrictions and distancing.
“I picture a perfect fall morning just after dawn. The fog still clinging to the silent lake. We share the calm with the echo of the loon-song knowing that they are near but just out of sight. I hope in that moment, paddling in your beautifully hand-crafted canoe, that your spirit will always flow near.”
As a true outdoors-man and nature lover, he will live on forever.
Sending hugs,
Kerry and Steve

Dearest Jen and Scott,
Sharing in your sadness, my heart goes out to you right now. Your father was a good man, a real gentleman; always donning a suit before putting his best foot forward. He often expressed how proud he was of your individual talents.
I was lucky enough to work with him and got the chance to see what a great man he was. He will be dearly missed.
May flights of doves lift him to his peace.
You have my deepest sympathies for your loss.
