It is 50 years ago since we moved away from the Markham area but I still have warm and don memories oh Herb and Eva and your whole family. It was a privilege to watch the loving and fitting service today. Thank you for the way that you brought glory to God as you remembered Eva today.

What a wonderful example Eva was of someone just loving people unconditionally. Dave and I have many fond memories of time spent together just chatting and soaking up love and wisdom. In recent years, quilting lessons/advice will be a fond memory to hold dear. We will miss you, but we will meet again.
Love from Dave & Judy O'Shea

Eva was a calm, gentle, and generous influence on my life since childhood. Her always present smile and ready laughter were such a joy. Teaching Sunday school, hosting youth fellowship events, sharing meals, always willing to volunteer and help out where ever she could, Her faith and deep commitment to her family are models for all of us.

I came to know Eva at the Care and Share. She was a wonderful manager there, always so encouraging to the volunteers. Her friendly and caring welcome was appreciated by so many people. Truly Eva had the gift of encouragement and she was a fine witness to God's love. Farewell, valued friend.

I still remember 17 years ago, Eva started to teaching me the Bible. For 5 years, every Wednesday morning she came to my house for Bible study. She continued to be a teacher for me and other Chinese women during Sunday school. Her faith was so strong and my time with her helped me find God in my life.
When my parents came to Toronto, Herb and Eva invited them on a day trip. We found out that my mom and Eva's age was only 15 days apart. From that day, she became like my second mom. In our emails, I would always call her Eva Mama.
She did not only improve my faith but whenever I had any problems in my life, I would call her first. She gave me strength and encouraged me to overcome the problems I was facing.
I can no longer meet her or call her, but she will always be in my heart.
I am so happy to have been able to meet you my Eva Mama.

My sincere sympathies to Herb and family. Eva was a gift to all she met along life's path. I will always remember her generosity kindness and warmth. There was never a hesitation to reach out to help and be of service. I learned quickly that if you had an idea and presented it to Eva you should be prepared to follow through. I had some unusual fabric and thought it would make a different quilt than we were used to making at sewing circle but had no idea how to execute, however, I was among great talent. I suggested the idea to Eva and the next thing I knew the drawings were made, the fabric was cut, it was pieced and it was done! That was Eva, just go for it. Nothing was impossible. I am humbled to have been called her friend.

Herb, Phyllis, Linda, Carolyn, Arlene and Glenna:
Anything we write will be scant consolation for the loss of Eva; wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. We want you to know we are thinking with great fondness for her care, her interest in others and her deep self confidence and faith. While our contact with her was seldom, it was always genuine, warm and meaningful. We wish you all peace and comfort knowing her life was well lived.
