Obituary of Charmaine Natalie May Rose Harriott
It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Charmaine on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at age 53. She is survived by her husband Kevin, and sons Marcus, Malcolm, and Martin. Charmaine was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. As well, her parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews meant the world to her. Charmaine was so many things - she was loving, optimistic, charismatic, selfless, outgoing, artistic, unique, funny, beautiful, strong and again so very loving. Those are just a few of her many amazing qualities. Charmaine was a selfless woman, constantly putting others before herself. She consistently looked for ways to help others and her family and carried this attitude through to her last days.
Charmaine homeschooled her three sons who all received early admission into post-secondary institutions. She would also tutor children and teach fine art classes. A lifelong learner herself, Charmaine completed her undergraduate degree at Ryerson University, where she studied Architecture. After starting her family she continued to further her education while raising her children and working. She graduated with distinction in Psychosocial Rehabilitation from St. Lawrence College and received a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education in Infant and Child Development from the University of British Columbia. Charmaine took interest in women's health and wellness and volunteered on various committees including advocating for abused women, AIDS, and sexual abuse prevention. She was a Doula and Breast Feeding Support Coach and taught Pre and Post Natal classes for the York Region Hospital. She also counseled women at Women's College Hospital.
Charmaine was always very physically active and one of her joys was being a Fitness and Meditation Instructor, where she touched many people with her positive, fun loving attitude. She was a certified fitness, yoga and pilates instructor and taught classes for over 10 years. She was also a Personal Trainer and Coach with the NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program). Charmaine was also a certified hypnotherapist and qualified meditation practitioner with the Hypnosis Motivation Institution (HMI) and a member of American Hypnosis Association (AHA).
Charmaine was an extraordinary human being. Her life was cut short and there’s a now a huge void in our lives. We hope to continue to exemplify her kindness and caring spirit by asking for donations to Colorectal Cancer Canada www.colorectalcancercanada.com in lieu of flowers.
