Shirley , Thinking of you and your family so very fondly and mindfully tonight and tomorrow as we all say our farewells dear friend.. You are indeed a woman of strength and faith, light and generosity. I have so much respect and admiration of how you have conducted yourself over the last few arduous difficult months . I take comfort in knowing that you have left behind what no longer served you well in body and hold joy in the the belief that once again you have found Stuart and alongside him and waiting with tails wagging happily there stands several German Shepherds and a little black cat to eagerly greet you ,I am picturing a joyous reunion. As a vet who was honored to help you with your tribe of furry companions I can say those animals that found you choose wisely and well and led very privileged lives surrounded with your utmost dedication to them and your fierce love of them and with you as their advocate for maximum good health. Amen to all you gave . ..Prayers for blessed peace and glory to you dear Shirley.
Namaste,
Cynthia

Deepest condolences to the family, as we pay tribute to our wonderful and beloved friend.
Shirley was such a bright light, with a caring heart… a great listener with a knack for great advice.
I will always cherish the moments that we shared… chatting about the joys and struggles of life.
I only wish we had more of those memories.
You are missed. Rest in peace.

“Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.”

“Afterglow
I’d like the memory of me
To be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow
Of smiles when day is done.
I’d like to leave an echo
Whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times, and laughing times
And bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve
To dry before the sun
Of happy memories I leave
Behind – when day is done.”
by Helen Lowrie Marshall and published in 1958.

Shirley was an amazing woman, who always made me laugh. I have known Shirley for about 11 years and I will miss her very much. I had the chance to talk to her last week thanks to her sister Barbara. I hope you are happy and know you will be remembered. God bless you Shirley.

Today I pay tribute to a very special, and irreplaceable person in our lives - my beloved sister-in-law Shirley Sawyers.
I struggled with what to say. There were so many beautiful things about Shirley, she was one of the most giving and unselfish people that I knew, the kindness in her heart, her generosity, her heart-touching love and care for animals and her positive outlook especially during her struggle with lung cancer, staying up beat through it all.
I miss you already. I was blessed to call you sister and friend!
Rest in Peace!
Faith Sawyers
,
As Shirley would say: “over and out” “onward and upward …. the journey …. and I do not walk alone” “again I maintain one day at a time” “keep the faith and don’t worry”

Dear Barbara, Joan,Sheldon and Janet, my deepest condolences. Words will never explain the loss that I feel. I was blessed to have Shirley as a dear friend for over 50 years. we became friends at A&W as teenagers, and we were lucky enough to continue our friendship when I moved to Toronto . Shirley was always there for me, when I became a Mom she became my daughter’s God mother. From the beginning Shirley and Barbara were very generous with gifts for Samantha my daughter, many a birthdays, and Christmas’s. Even when we returned to New Brunswick she always remembered us. We continued our friendship Long distance. Many letters and phone calla, along with the occasional visit when she came to Saint John or if we went to Toronto. We always were able to catch up like it was yesterday.
Shirley’s kindness and generosity will never be forgotten. She was always there if you needed her, she was a great wife, loving sister and the best friend anyone could ask for.God blessed me and my family for having Shirley in our lives. I will so miss her sweet laugh, her mischievous grin when she did something kind for someone else but wanted to be kept a secret. Her work ethic was very strong, she never shrugged away her responsibilities. At times she took on challenges that would have broken other individuals. There is a million memories of Shirley I will treasure, I only wish we had a million more to share. So my dear sweet friend claim your righteous place with God. I know he has welcomed you with open arms. Love Isabel Dignard and family.
