I only knew Jan for three years. We met at West Park Health Care Centre, where we shared a room with two others.
Jan was always following protocol, and caught me once taking my oxygen off in order to reach some Lysol wipes during our exercise program.
When I turned around there she was holding my oxygen to me and saying that I should never do that again. We kept in touch via email as we were to weak to visit in person. I was saddend to hear from her friend, who replied to an email I had sent to her to check in with her. I was shocked ans sad to hear the news. Jan was a wonderful friend and she will be missed by many.
May She rest in peace.

I hate I am so late sending my memories and thoughts of Jan. I first met Jan in first grade in Lantana, Florida. Being a little tomboy in S. Florida, I was so impressed with her beautiful dresses and matching purses and hair ribbons. I loved sleep overs at her house and hated it when she went home to Canada every summer. We stayed in touch over the years and time apart melted away everytime we got together. A truly talented and classy lady. I hate that she left so soon. Rest in peace, my friend.

She was my mother's best friend. A wonderful godmother to me and my siblings.
She was a dog rescue hero to so many animals, a beautiful gardener and had such great style and humour.
We will miss Aunt Jan

Janet I just recently got back in touch with you and had many conversations with you. You were a very special person with love in your heart. How I knew you was you use to date my brother and I always loved you dearly. You were always upbeat when I spoke to you and for that I am thankful, as both of us are going through the same thing. May you rest in peace . Lynda Kirk

My fondest memories of Jan were our evening walks with the dogs, her’s and mine. We would talk about so many things and yes, I couldn’t get enough of her stories about the early days on the Island. She was a righteous person committed to the things that matter most in life. And if you were lucky enough to have her as a friend you knew she had your back no matter what. RIP Jan, see you on the other side.

Dear family of Jan,
We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Jan.
Our dearest memory of Jan's kind spirit is when our dog, Mr. Petie, ran after her car...
he got rushed to the emergency and two screws were applied to put his bones together.
Jan paid for the entire surgery and insisted on no reimbursement from us.
That in addition to her wonderful smile is how we remember Jan.
She has now crossed the rainbow bridge with all of her fury friends.
Kindest Regards, Rock and Lyn Tate, Hypoluxo Island, Florida USA

I loved Jan Hughes, put simply. I always will. She was a lifesaver for me. I loved her wit, her integrity, her style, her vivacious personality, her grit, her honesty, and most of all her courage. She's in my heart forever.

Dear Jan I will so miss our chats and laughter together.
You were an inspiration and brought so much joy by helping many dogs to have better lives.
As Jennifer said....you were one hell of a fighter, firecracker and positive person...and that is what made you so great to know.
I will really miss you dear friend.
