I first met David Rannie more than 40 years ago when he and Estelle and their family moved into the house just two doors up the street from my own family. His sons Paul and Mike were very close friends of mine - and we spent countless hours hanging out in each others' homes when we were growing up. Dave could be a strict parent at times but he was very patient with the crowd of rambunctious teenagers that would frequently end up in his basement watching videos on the family VCR. Indeed, he would often join us . . eager to share wry comments about our questionable taste in movies! He was a fine family man and a great neighbor.
A man of tremendous character - with an unshakable devotion to Estelle, their children and grandchildren - Dave will be sadly missed by us all . . .
Rest in peace, sir.

When I think of Dave I think of Sunday mornings and Little Rocks at our Curling Club. I remember our gazing out at our young people on the ice, of watching them grow and of laughing together. Dave will be missed.

Dave was a gentleman on and off the ice. He joined me and my brother at Lindsay for several bonspiels. His smile, laugh, frankness and arm around my shoulder are some of his memorable traits. We had some interesting conversations while on the road in the Van or after some curling games. He will be missed.

Sincere condolences to Estelle and all of Dave’s family. I cherish the memories of the many years Dave and I curled together on the same team at the Bayview CC. He was a consummate gentlemen over all those years and always was the one that kept our team on an even keel. I hope that his family will find some solace in the high regard he always had from me and his curling team mates over so many years. Rest In Peace Dave.

Our sincere condolences go to David's family and friends, especially to our friends Anne-Marie, John, Sarah and Claire. We got to know David at Unionville Curling Club's Sunday morning Little Rocks program where he enthusiastically cheered on his very talented granddaughters for many years. When our son and David's granddaughter Sarah curled together in U21 Mixed Doubles competition, David's smile, kindness and cheerful disposition were very supportive. Love and hugs to all of you at this difficult time - The Steffler Family

What is a hero? A hero is someone who treats people with respect; is kind to everyone, whether they know you or not; who never judges, only listens; and be the support one needs when they're in trouble.
Grandpa, you were my hero. I'll love you forever - but now, just stay with me in my heart.

Dad, you were the ultimate family man, ever present in the lives of your children and grandchildren -- even retiring when my girls were babies to spend more time with them and enjoy the little moments. You sat on the floor and played toddler games with them, fished and swam with them at the lake, taught them to compete in games, cards, and curling. Supported them and were their loudest and proudest cheerleader. We were blessed to have you in our lives. Through the years you have called me sweetie pie, sweetie, sweet girl, sweet lady. I'll I can say is rest now sweet, sweet man.
