Just can't stop beingb reminded and thinking of our dear friend and neighbour Brian, and recalling how truly lovely a person he was. His presence is everywhere...his tomato crop, his sneezeweed flowers, the "suzies" he shared with us from his garden. He was so incredibly brave and courageous while facing his battle with cancer. He was completely surrounded with love and care from oving wife Michelle and his devoted children. We will miss him forever and he will be forever in our hearts.

My dads wishes were to go out quietly like the gentleman he was. My dad would always want to give recognition to those who supported his family and that’s why I feel compelled to tell his story.
When my dad was diagnosed with cancer, he faced it head on like the strong man he was. He would never want anyone to know the great pain and suffering he felt. Even in the last few days of his life when we asked if he was in pain his eloquent response was “you are my pain”. My parents have been a pillar of strength for us since they day we were born. I feel so lucky to have been raised by my parents who loved each other so much and feel comfort to know future grandchildren will feel this same feeling.
My mom was a huge advocate for my dads health and was told numerous times by doctors that she saved my dads life. From attending every chemo appointment, to making sure he was not alone at any ER stay, my mom was always by my Dads side and he would not have it any other way. They would often look in each other’s big blue eyes and sigh knowing time was limited and they had so much more to give and say. My parents endured 374 days of suffering and my mom, my siblings and I would have done anything to take that pain away from my dad.
Even though GB has moved into the next chapter we will forever be reminded of his unforgettable “Full House” moments, perfect Instagram captions, advice on perennial gardens, wisdom on relationships and overall emotional intelligence.
I can’t look out a window, see a butterfly, drink a Guinness, listen to Boom 97.3 or look at our nephew without thinking how much I miss you and wish you were here.
You told me that whenever we are thinking of you, that’s you thinking of us.
I guess that is every moment.
Love Always,
Katelyn

We were so sad to learn of Brian's passing. He was such a nice and thoughtful person. He would always stop to say hello and ask how we were all doing every time we'd run into each other in the neighborhood. Our hearts go out to Michelle and her family. We hope you take comfort in knowing he's at peace, out of pain and know you will always be surrounded by Brian's love and presence. He's in all our hearts xoxo. Much love from Sarah, Rob and Lewis Bolton

Brian, we were heartbroken to learn you were gone and are so sad God had other plans for you.
Your pain & suffering are over and you can rest well now, little brother. Susan and I sat with you last summer, as you told us about your health. We were shaken with your news but tried to support you for as long as we could.
Brian, your kind and gentle soul will be sadly missed by us, your in-laws, your nieces and nephews, other family members, your many friends, BELL colleagues and all who knew and loved you.
We had a great childhood in the Barker family… Paul, Susan, you and me and we mourned the loss of baby Gregory Allan.
We shared so many great times together as a family….simple times…Holiday Inn, summers at the Carty’s, Burley’s cottages, chips and pop on Hockey in Canada nights! Go Leafs Go!
As we grew older we went our separate ways and careers…you and me to BELL, Paul as a Trade Show Designing entrepreneur and Susan to Healthcare, but we attempted to keep in touch over the years. And some years we were successful with wonderful memories made at Paul & Susan’s homes for our family gatherings.
We didn’t always understand you, as you and Paul were the quiet, observant ones and Susan and I not so much. When you married, you became the protector of your wife Michelle and family and with each child, your loving role widened. You were a loving husband, proudest Dad and Grandpa.
I have no doubt your family feels lost without you now.
May you find strength in one another Michelle, Megan, Jeff, William, Michael, Katelyn, Wyatt and Brianne to cope with your pain and sadness with the loss of Brian. They will always think of you Brian as they walk down many memory lanes and they may eventually laugh along the way about all the good times they shared with you.
We pray time will ease your sorrow Barker family, but Brian will remain close in your hearts and ours always.
Until we meet again, we will always love you Brian....
Anne Louise & Susan xo xo

Michelle and family: what a gift Brian was... a devoted husband and father. You were truly blessed. My heartfelt condolences at the tragic passing of a remarkable man, Brian Barker.
To you my dear Anne-Louise and twin sister Sue. I'm so very sorry for the loss of your brother and uncle Brian. I'm praying for you all.
Brian was a fun loving cousin. Our family ties were strong growing up. The Barker clan and the Carty clan spent many a summer vacation together in Kingston, Ontario. Parrotts Bay was where Brian was first taught to fish by his dad, our beloved uncle Al.
Such great childhood memories- God bless you Brian. We all loved you.

Brian, I want your family to know that you were one of the most respected and well liked managers that Bell has ever had.
You were courteous and respectful and your dedication was second to none.
Always quick to respond to a concern that a field tech had and follow up on to see it resolved.
You will be missed
my sincere condolences to your family.

I wish to pass on my condolenses to Michelle and the Barker children on such a huge loss with Brian's passing. He was too young to go.
To twin sister Susan and sister Anne Louise and your children , my deepest sympathies. Brian was truly a great guy! As cousins , we would meet at weddings and funerals, share a laugh and promise to get together. We never did, as life gets busy.
There is a picture from 1909 of our Grandpa McGrath in a three piece suit. Some Aunts thought it looked like me but my expression was " My God, that is Brian Barker!"
He will be greatly missed.

Michelle, Megan, Katelyn, Michael, Brianne and Family,
My heartfelt condolences to you all. Family meant the world to Brian, which was so obvious every time he spoke. The light in his eyes said it all. He was so Proud! You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
From the time of breakfasts at the Wexford after midnight shifts right up to conversations on our grandchildren, you knew you would always get Brian's full attention and honest opinions, advice or suggestions with no judgement. He always seemed to know just what to say. He was definitely One of a Kind. A true Gentleman and Friend.
The world is a darker place as one of the brightest lights has now gone out.
Rest in Peace my Friend, you will be Truly Missed.
Gone but never forgotten!!

I've had the pleasure of knowing Brian over the past four years, and he was undoubtedly one of the greatest men I've ever known. He was the kind of person we all strive to be. Strong, devoted, peaceful, open-minded, and positive are just a few words I feel best describe him. He always welcomed me into his home with open arms and made me feel like part of the family. "Hey, sit down, have drink, relax!" he'd say with a hug and a smile...He always had something interesting to talk to me about, whether it was about a good movie, golf or hockey, or his beautifully maintained home, it always caputured my interest because his knowledge on those and many other subjects was so in depth. To me, he loved to know the inner workings of things, how to improve on them, and get them to last. Using this as a base for all things in life, he explained to me how to maintain a pool all the way down to prolonging a long lasting relationship. His perspective of life I hope to carry on forward in conjunction with my own. His values and morals live through his immediate family, and so I believe his spirit will never die. I love and appreciate everything he has shared with me. My deepest sympathies to my second family. God bless you all, and all those who loved Brian.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Andrews

Dear Barker Family, I am so sorry for your loss. Brian was such a wonderful man. He and I had several conversations about his old neighbourhood and how close I lived to Our Lady of Fatima at one time. We shared stories about the area often. May your memories help you through these difficult days.

Dear Brian,
Just a little history:
I was there when you were born. Your dad called me at work, yes, I worked for Bell also. Your dad said “Sheila we have a baby girl. I was so excited and he said, “and we have a baby boy”. I said OK Allen is it a boy or is it a girl?He said we have a boy and a girl. I nearly fainted. What a joy, twins Brian and Susan.
Brian, when God created you he made a masterpiece. You are so unique. Like a peaceful dove, always wanting peace love and joy; in all areas of your life.
Your mom, dad, sister Anne Louise, brother Paul, Brian, sister Susan, brother Gregory Alan, what a beautiful family..
Then you met Michelle and got married and had four beautiful children; Megan, Michael, Katelyn and Brianne. And of course a beautiful grandson came along.
I thank God for Michelle and all your children for taking such good care of you, so so lovingly. I got a text from you and in the text you said “all is fine, I have so much love around me from my wife and children. It’s easy to fight to get better.”.
We are all missing you so so much but we know you’re with God. We will pray for you always. You will always be in our hearts and our minds. Love you forever, amen.
I’m so blessed to be your aunt. May God bless us all with many blessings.
Love,
Aunt Sheila (Downs)

Brian was truly a remarkable man in so many ways, and he will be missed forever. Loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Dedicated and true friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him, respected and admired colleague to those that had the honour of working with him. We will miss seeing him puttering in the yard and tending to the tomatoes, hearing the great tunes drifting into his yard, and hearing his voice. We will miss him forever. Our hearts are heavy and we extend our deepest sympathies to Michelle and families.

Brian was a great person. He was my first manager at Bell Canada and was not only a great manager but a good listener. Brian was a very charismatic person and inspired myself at the beginning of my career. Many of my crew members would agree he would always there to take the time to listen and was usually able to give you wise options to help solve the issue. He was well- respected and earned it.My condolences to his family.
