Lynda Duncan

Obituary of Lynda Jean Duncan

It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Lynda Jean Duncan. Lynda passed away peacefully at Markhaven Home for Seniors on March 28, 2020 at the age of 68.

Lynda is preceded in death by her father Iain McKenzie MacDonald and her sister Charlene (MacDonald) Donohue. She is survived by her mother, Jeanette (Valentine) MacDonald, sons Scott (Julie) Duncan and Jeffrey (Laura) Duncan, sisters Debbie (Dave) Edge, Sue (David Cox) MacDonald and Heather (Rick) Robertson, grandsons Jackson and Colton, granddaughter Avery, six nieces and nephews and six great nieces and nephews.

Lynda Jean was born June 1, 1951 in Toronto, Ontario.  She attended North Park Collegiate and later married the boy next door/across the street.  Lynda made MacDonald history by giving birth to the first male baby in the family, Scott Iain on November 11, 1977. Her encore came with the arrival of Jeffrey John on September 2, 1983. Of all the accomplishments in Lynda’s life, she would claim these were her greatest.

Those fortunate enough to have known Lynda will remember her as a loyal friend with a compassionate ear, an adventurous soul with a fun-loving spirit who just wanted to belong. Her life revolved around her love of people and the care and empathy she showed to all as seen in the positions she held in medical and dental offices, in the dedication she extended to her parents, siblings, friends and in her most cherished role as a mother. She offered her many talents freely and generously and always thought of that little gesture or kind word that would make someone’s day brighter.

Her pursuit of happiness led to some unforeseen complications not the least of which was the debilitating illness that prevented her from achieving all that she dreamed. She will be sorely missed but we can take comfort in knowing she is finally at peace. Our family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Markhaven Home for Seniors for their outstanding care of Lynda.

Due to the extraordinary situation we find ourselves in at this time, a family celebration of Lynda’s life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association or Markhaven Home for Seniors in Markham.
