Please accept my sincerest condolences on the sudden passing of a truly remarkable man. Working with George at Sunnybrook was such a pleasure and the abundance of time, donations and advice he brought to the table were greatly appreciated by all. I still use passages from his fundraising book to help others!
My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
Warm regards,
Jennifer Tory

George was a philanthropic leader who supported many organizations not only through his personal commitment but by engaging the broader community in fundraising. He was an inspiration in both his gracious approach and tremendous success. I learned much from his leadership of the Sunnybrook capital campaign. I also will never forget he took the time to meet with me early in my years on the Foundation Board giving equally of his time to donors small and large. It was a demonstration of his generosity of spirit that defined his impact. My deepest condolences to his family. Ann Bowman

I had the pleasure of working with George in the very early days at Cantel. My boss and George shared an office wall so I saw him and interacted with him daily. He was a very smart and respectful man. He really was instrumental in getting Cantel off the ground and running. So that it is the successful company it is today. I hadn’t seen him for years but was lucky enough to have bumped into him having lunch with a colleague last October. We reminisced about our working days and I asked him if he still had the “Cantel” license plate. He contributed a lot to the business world in Canada. What a nice man. Sue Alexander

On behalf of our many brothers in Sigma Chi Fraternity, I wish to express our sincere condolences to George's family. There are many young actives and alumni who benefited from George's very kind generosity when he established a scholarship for Sigma Chi's in Canada. He was a very unique brother who was instrumental in assisting the Fraternity over the years. He was a superlative brother in all regards.
Most Sincerely

Our sincere condolences to George's family and hearty thanks to George for all that he gave to many. George's vision of the "Wired City" has certainly come to pass as our "Wireless Society". How often have I bragged about him to others for his visionary capacity. Thanks for his exemplary open management style that I endeavored to copy during my career. And, we had fun also. How can I forget that moment during the management training session when we were being coached on how to deal with the media, George reached out and physically took the microphone from the interviewer, clearly demonstrating who was in control! George and I shared a moment, visiting a local insurance company who had lent us a multiplexor during an emergency, to present them with a framed print of the SDL computer art series collection. When the overhead door to the basement parking garage failed, the entire operations crew jumped in to lift the door manually for our leader. And many more recollections. We all have our many memories and I will always treasure mine. He was an inspiration as a leader and as a person.

My condolences to George's family. George was the person who interviewed me for a job at SDL, and I have been grateful ever since. The environment at SDL, where hard work, ethics, and respect were paramount was a testimony to his leadership. Luckily I had the chance at last year's XDL reunion to reminisce about SDL and the professional family it created, and once again to thank George for the opportunity to be part of that family.

We are so thankful for the work-ethic George inspired in each of us as we began our careers at SDL. It was indeed a company led by a visionary who brought the best of each person to the forefront. Everybody's first job should be with a leader like George.
Thank you for the many years you gave your all.

I was deeply saddened to hear that George had passed away. I was privileged to have seen him at the last SDL reunion just a few months ago. I was certainly privileged to have worked at SDL for a number of years beginning in 1973. It was staffed by highly intelligent and fun loving people. At the time, we thought nothing of having coffee or lunch with George in the company cafeteria "Bits and Bytes". George knew everyone by their name and always said hello when he passed by. He was a great leader and a man of vision. We will miss you, George.
