I had the pleasure of meeting Miriam when I first moved to Markham in 1964. Miriam & I had one thing in common that being our passion for animals. We met walking our dogs in the Rogue River valley.
I fondly remember one instance. There was a feral dog called Louie who would roam our neighbourhood. Louie was extremely weary of humans. I started leaving food out for him on our deck. He became a regular visitor. I discovered later that Miriam had been doing the same thing. Some days Louie didn’t show up, I figured Miriam was serving something better on the menu. My kind of Lady!
Miriam you made it to the grand age of 103. Bravo!
It must have been all that walking & fresh air. I believe that Miriam was always out walking looking for stray or injured animals she could care for. One of a kind & such a great soul.
Sincerely,
Donna, Rebecca & Christian Marmei

Rest in Peace Miriam. What a lovely person - always willing to help. We will remember her through her kind and gentle smile, her love of all animals, her knowledge of plants and especially the deep friendships she made in the community. I bet there is a lovely tea party happening up there now with Miriam, Florence, Nancy and many others. Enjoy ladies! Susan, our thoughts are with you at this time. God Bless...France, Paul and Morgan Potter
