Ardith was always very kind and welcoming to me. I met her through her daughter Kendra. When I would come to their house she would always engage me in conversation and ask how I was and how my family was doing. I always felt she was truly genuine with her care and concern. More recently (probably 2-3years ago)I had the pleasure of running into her at the mall. She greeted me with a smile and a hug and we both caught up on how our families were doing and she talked about her grandchildren and the joys of being a grandmother. She is, was and always will be one of the nicest people I have ever known. I am grateful for running into her that day at the mall.
My condolences to Kendra, April, Erich, Garry, grandchildren and the rest of the family.

I am so sorry to hear of Ardith’s passing. She was my internship preceptor when I graduated from pharmacy school and got my first job at Markham Stouffville Hospital. I couldn’t have asked for a more patient and knowledgeable teacher. She was so caring and kind to everyone she interacted with. My deepest sympathies to her family.

I was so sad to hear about the loss of Ardith. She was a wonderful kind caring person with a lovely smile. I knew her through church and also through Markham Stouffville Hospital where we both worked. I was always happy when I would see her at the hospital and loved it when we were in the lunchroom at the same time and would share stories of our families. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed. My deepest sympathies to her family.
With fond Memories of Ardith

Ardith meant so much to everyone who was privileged enough to meet her. I am deeply saddened by her passing especially for my childhood best friend, Kendra and her siblings April and Erich and their father Garry. I have such fond memories from childhood going to the Knechtel house so often. Ardith always showed genuine compassion for her children’s friends and we felt welcomed, cared for and safe in her presence. I feel blessed that I got to spend so much time with her in years past.

Ardith meant so much to our family. She was so kind, loving, caring and giving over and above any reasonable expectation, as a kidney donor to my now deceased wife Gerri. After our minister advised our congregation of the need of a kidney, Ardith called and asked, "Dennis, do you think Gerri would take my kidney? I said "What more could she ask for. She would be getting an educated, vegetarian, Christian kidney" and I offered to set up some information sessions. Ardith simply said, No need. I know what I am doing" Gerri called Ardith 'her angel' and she absolutely meant it. I came to a better understanding of Jesus, as he went from perfect health to death on a cross for us. Ardith went into the hospital in perfect health and came out of her operation as a kidney donor in a weakened condition and it took time to get fully back on he feet. What a gift What a sacrifice. All the while, being as pleasant as ever. Following the operation, Ardith, Gary, Gerri and I spent a week together in Florida. A very enjoyable week. Other attributes of going on medical missions and missions for Sunday School teachers have been mentioned. For a time Ardith was our Sunday School Superintendent. In my time of mourning the loss of Gerri, Ardith had me for dinner, had me to her cottage and offered big hugs, support and encouragement at every opportunity. My kids and grand kids all knew Ardith and loved her for her gift to their mother and grandmother, We held a "lay witness weekend" at our church many years ago and I recall Ardith's warm feelings about that weekend. Her Christian faith grew and her Christian faith was strong. At the time of the transplant a prayer vigil for Ardith and Gerri was held through a day and night. Because of Ardith's gift, people expressed their faith more than ever and trusted their faith in new and exciting ways. Her life is a model for others to follow. Surely there will be great rejoicing in heaven.

We are so very sad for the loss of an absolutely wonderful person who was a bright life in our world. Ardith was an exceptionally kind, gentle, and caring woman and we truly admired her loving nature and compassionate spirit. Ardith inspired the people she met to be more like her...to reach higher in being an authentically good person to other people and animals we shared our lives with. We will never forget Ardith and hold so many fond memories in our hearts. We extend our deepest sympathies to Ardith's family.
