To my cousins Michael, Steven, and Brian, I feel your loss and I will always remember in my heart my aunt Dorothy who also shared the same first name as my mother. I remember my visits to your place with my parents when we were all young and the times over the years we spent together and your mother (aunt Dorothy) being there for us even when we did get in trouble! She was always the great host and provided us with great lunch or dinners. I will always treasure our memories and will remember the best in all she gave to us. My condolences to you all and wish you all the best from your cousin Martine Stonehouse.

Dear Brian, Steve, Michael and families, While we are saddened to hear of your mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother’s death, it was time for Dorothy to go. She lived a long and rich life, enjoying John, her sisters, and the rest of her family. We will always remember her great sense of humor, her ready smile, and her quick retorts to what was said, even if it meant cringing at times. A very competitive cribbage and card player, it was amazing that up until a couple of months ago, she still played crib with Brian. She was a most welcome guest at our Christmas parties, as her smile and deep laugh always lit up the room. May you be received in the arms of the angels. Condolences to all.

Deepest Sympathy in the loss of your Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Friend.
The Cape Breton wave brought forth strong and capable hands to the shores of Ontario.
Surviving the "Great" Depression, working at factories for the war effort.
The Greatest generation who gave so much stood strong over the years.
Now the wave pulls gently back to sea. But if you look in its wake you can see
the Beautiful gems that has been left behind for us to cherish and love.
Thinking of you during your loss.
Love Daphne and Arno

Mrs Stonehouse was always so much fun to be around. Her wit was absolutely amazing coming out with these little jokes and sayings. Sometimes you just had to shake your head. She was such a nice person and loved all of her family. You were all lucky to have synch a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Mrs Stonehouse was always amazing to us we would go to her house as kids for swimming and she would always treat us like gold, She could not do enough to make us have a great time. She would make us laugh and always have a smile on her face. Every time I would run into her later in life she was still amazing to me and treated me like family.
You will be dearly missed
Love

Nothing will ever replace my grandma Dorothy’s unfailing love for me. I’m so lucky to have had her in my life until well into my adulthood. And I’m so thankful that my 2 daughters were able to not only know her, but feel her genuine love as well. My Grandma was a kind, generous, hilarious and feisty person in life, and a fighter and trouper right until the end.
Many thanks to family and friends who have posted and shared memories, thoughts and photos of her. So appreciated.
Love Catharine Stonehouse (Dorothy’s granddaughter) and family

I first met Aunt Dorothy when I flew to Ontario in October 1959.
I immediately got out my photo album and found a picture of Uncle Johnny with his arm around her sitting on the sofa at Gramma's place in Markham, October 9th. She was always a lovely and lively looking Gal.
My condolences to all the family as I know she will be greatly missed. My thanks to whoever did the well-written obituary.
Love, Hugs and Blessings to All, Eileen Boyd Wiedeman

We knew Dorothy for the time she lived at the Woodhaven, on the 4th floor. We are sorry to know that she was unwell for the last number of weeks. We remember her group of friends in the beginning when they would walk and talk together, taking their purses to the foyer and then knowing it was time to get upstairs for the dinner hour. I am sure Dorothy enjoyed a happy family life and I know that she was always thoughtful about her daddy in her memories. Dorothy would reminisce about many stories .. about her father laughing at her looking in the mirror before going out. Condolences to the family. Sandy & Bill Attewell
