So sad to hear of this. My condolences. I believe I was Donnie's grade 5 (or maybe grade 6) teacher at Roy H. Crosby P.S. Wish I had made the effort to reconnect with him. He was an enthusiastic, happy guy, and was a pleasure to have in my class. Rudy Hartmann

I am so sorry to hear about Don’s passing. I met Don when I was hired as a violinist to play with Shade. He was such a sweet, caring man. I remember his care for others’ welfare, whether it was expressing his concern at my working at a bar late at night as a young woman, or checking in on his friend Paul when he was unable to talk after a minor surgery. I remember his sense of humor, and his playful laughter as he and Paul cracked each other up. I am so sorry for your loss.

Don was a great guy with a permanent smile on his face. I met him as a young crew member at the McDonald's across the road from where he lived.
We were good friends.
Always a good guy

I'm so sorry to hear of Don's passing. Your heart break must be tremendous. I met Don when I was hired to play in Shade. He was the most even-keeled, kind, understanding, generous band leader I've ever worked for. When we became friends I enjoyed his razor sense of humour, his pragmatism and gentle demeanor. As the only female in a band of guys I always felt heard and protected when Don was around. Thank you Don. May his love for music radiate the heavens.

I wanted to send my condolences to Don’s family. I had the pleasure to play in a band with Don for a short time. He was a very talented musician and a wonderful person. He used to walk me to my car each night to make sure I got there safely. I feel blessed to have known Don, he will be in my thoughts.
