We met the Pope family when Caroline, as a new Mom with Alex, and Ann as a new Mom with Emily Siskos, were together in a Mother and Baby group. Caroline and Ann spent time together as new moms, and then again when the second children, Emily Pope and Jacob Siskos, were born. We arranged a babysitting exchange early on. Ann babysat Alex as a baby, while Caroline and Trevor spent an evening out. Caroline babysat Emily Siskos, while Ann and Garry spent an evening out.
Our families became very good friends, and we will remember the wonderful, fun filled times we had with Alex and his family, over the 22 years that we have been friends.

I remember how early on in their friendship Alex introduced Adam to the "double sleepover." The two boys would conspire at school for a Friday night sleepover at the Pope's house, which more often than not turned into a double sleepover, with Adam finally returning home sometime Sunday afternoon.
I also remember what an awesome hockey goalie Alex was - even after a sleepover he would rally to stop most of the shots that came his way.

To the Pope family, I wish all the best during this time. This must be a devastating loss. I remember coaching and interacting with Alex during our time at Unionville PS.
