Dear Christopher and Janet, we are so deeply sorry for the death of your dear mom and Jackie, for the loss of your mother-in-law. This year has been so hard for each one of you. Somehow, we're never ready to lose our moms, and we wish we had some magic words to ease your pain. "One step and then the next one," as inadequate as these words sound, is probably the best you can manage right now.
