Obituary of Marilyn Russell
Russell, Marilyn (nee Recoskie)
January 2, 1943 - September 18, 2013
Join us as we celebrate the life of Marilyn, who left us suddenly on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 in Markham, Ontario at the age of 70. Her family was the most important part of her life. She is loved and deeply missed by Vaughan, her husband of 44 years, and children Rita (Loris) and Brian (Louise). She was a devoted and much beloved grandma to her three little girls, Sophia, Claudia and Naomi. They were her pride and joy and they simply adored her. Marilyn always thought of her own childhood family as well, and will be greatly missed by her siblings Dolores, Greg, and Marion.
Marilyn's life was devoted to family. From the time she was young, she gave fully of her time, love, and expertise. She took it as her responsibility to take care of everyone, and make sure they stayed connected. She welcomed each of her children and grandchildren and supported them in all of their endeavors. Her granddaughters were lucky enough to have her as a part of their daily lives after she moved to Markham to be closer to them. She was a woman who would do anything for the people that she loved.
Her second passion was her commitment to the study of her family's genealogy. In recent years she worked tirelessly on her own family tree, as well as helping in the research of other related families. She was extremely proud of her family's heritage and wanted to make sure that no one was missed or forgotten in the family record. Her sudden passing is a tremendous loss to all who knew and loved her. She was a one-of-a-kind lady and she will be greatly missed.
Friends and family will be received at the DIXON-GARLAND FUNERAL HOME, 166 Main Street North (Markham Road) Markham, on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Family visitation continues on Monday, September 23, 2013 from 10 a.m. until the time of a public Memorial Service in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Cremation and interment to follow at a later date in Barry's Bay, Ontario.
