It is with the greatest sadness that I learned of Paula passing away. For the 31 years that I knew her and as my sister-in-law, she was a dear, king and loving member of our family. She was a fond and caring Aunt and helped form the strong bond between my son and his cousins, Philip, Andrea and Rebecca. My deepest condolences to all of Paula's family and friends.

Paula was my sister-in-law but I loved her like a sister. In the 33 years that she was a member of my family, I never knew her to be anything but loving, courageous in dealing with challenges life threw in her way, and totally dedicated to her children, her parents, her siblings and their families. As our children grew up, we didn't see much of each other, but I knew that I could count on her help and support if ever I needed it. I will miss her dearly and she will always have a place in my heart. She is in the arms of our Lord now and those who loved her will keep her spirit alive.

I have known Paula for 20 years. She was warm, always smiling, speaking the truth, and compassionate. She was the first person to visit me at home when I had my first born in September of 1993, 4 months after we knew each other. Paula would call and gave me her sisterly advice and comfort because I was going thru some tough time being the first time Mom. She has helped me through some tough time. My son, Brendan, has grown into a young man and was working as a summer student at Janssen Inc. in 2012. He had the opportunity to work with Paula for the United Way campaign at Janssen Inc. She has been a role model for Brendan.
Paula was very supportive and proud of my 32K Walk for Women's Cancer in 2010. She kept saying that she will be there for me and others. Sure enough, she was the first person to greet us at the lunch pit stop. She's not only a person with her words, she's with her action.
Paula knows a lot about plants and flowers. The Rosedale Garden Tour that we did together in the summer of 2011 was a sweet memory for me. She wasn't only looking at some rich fancy homeowners' garden, but along the way, she would point to me to show me other types of plants/flowers outside the fancy fences. She was the best friend to bring for that day….I will miss you greatly, Paula, my "sister from the other mother".

My thoughts are with Philip, Andrea and Rebecca during this sad time. I have fond memories of Paula and the time our two families shared together renting cottages up north. She was always such a sweet and kind hearted woman, who was also a wonderful mother. She will be greatly missed, and always remembered.

I first met Paula in the early 2000s when we worked together on a big project at Johnson & Johnson. We were a big group working long hours together in a small space. Paula and I were drawn together due to our love of animals and my work with the Guelph Humane Society and the University of Guelph in support of research animals. Paula immediately took an interest in the work I was doing and helped to take care of an abused dog that I was fostering and taking to work each day. We talked and talked about animals and her childrens' love of them.
Eventually, the project ended and I didn't really work with Paula again until 2005. At that time, we worked side-by-side for many, many months and got to know each other well. Paula was so fun, kind, diligent, caring and compassionate about everything in her life, including her job, even though at times it was thankless work. Paula was a wonderful team member and we, as a team, made a success of the project, despite many pitfalls and roadblocks. At one point, Paula and I traveled to Montreal to train some new QA staff. Paula prepared all of the training material…in English, of course. We were well-received by the French-speaking trainees and we both joked with them, using whatever French we knew. The night after the training session, Paula insisted that we go to a VERY nice restaurant in Old Montreal and of course, charge it to J&J. We did that and toasted J&J and the work we had done with a nice glass of red wine. That set our bond. I wish I had taken a picture of Paula. She was so nervous about giving the training but did an excellent job and was very proud and confident during our dinner. She was at her best
We have been in touch since those days and I have heard how wonderful her kids are doing and also about her pets...Oreo and Sophie. Paula always remembered my birthday..Sept. 3..and e-mailed me without fail. She remembered because Rebecca always started school in Guelph at the same time. Guelph was where I lived until this year. Yesterday (Sept. 3) was my 55th birthday and I didn't hear from her. Now I know why.
Paula was a very special person and will be sorely missed by many, including me.

I like to believe that when we lose someone close to us they still live through us and give us strength. The time we have spent with those we've lost makes them part of us. I am thankful to have learned over the past years a lot through Paula, my long-time cubicle neighbour (she always used to call me that) and patient team member. She was really special to all of us. Paula will be missed dearly.
