Jack was an instructer for OMAF at many drainage schools across Ontario.
I had the pleasure to attend many of them as a Drainage Superintendent.
When I retired , I became a member of the Drainage Tribunal.
Jack served many years on the tribunal.

Jack was a major influence on my development as a man and an engineer. So glad that I saw him recently at the Laurentian University reunion. For many of his young students he was more than a teacher but a role model who created an ambition within us to strive to be a professional and more importantly a good person. I consider my time in his tutelage to be a rare gift.
Please accept my condolences and know that his legacy lives on within all those he helped grow to greater knowledge and maturity.

Sandy and Young family, please accept our sympathies. Jack was our well-liked and respected professor at Laurentian University from 1968-70. Our engineering class from that era had its first ever reunion after 47 years and the main event on September 28 of this year was a cruise on Lake Muskoka aboard the Wenonah II. Our class was thrilled that our beloved professor Jack could organize the cruise and join us on board. We are all saddened to hear about his passing but feel fortunate to have seen him one last time.

Jack will always be respected for his professionalism and fondly remembered for his delightful smile. He never smiled more gleefully as when he stood beside the bar at a O.L.S. Veterans' luncheon, offering to buy you a drink.

Jack will always be remembered by his golf buddies in the Muskoka Senior Men's Golf Group as a warm friend and a true gentleman. What a joy it is to play with a great guy, respected by all his golf partners. Jack's style was one more reason why golf is bigger than the game itself. It offers us who play the game the opportunity to rub shoulders with good guys like Jack, whom we can aspire to emulate.

I knew Jack only for a couple of years, but it was he who introduced and then sponsored me into Rotary. I worked with him on the registration desk and was always glad to see him at our weekly meetings. I will miss his smile and his energy but more than anything his warm heart and giving nature. A true gentleman. Sincerest condolences to all who knew him but particularly to his family who he loved so much.

So sad to have the news of Jack's passing. In my experience Jack was a kind man with a kind word. I enjoyed the opportunity of playing golf with him at Kirrie Glen and the ongoing conversation we had about real estate. Jack was knowledgeable and insightful. I will miss him.
His departure must leave a large hole in the family. My thoughts are with you as you celebrate Jack's life and legacy. I hope your Christmas will be peaceful and that you will be able to remember past celebrations with his smile and laugh in your hearts.
Kind regards,
Ross

Sandy, this is very sad news indeed.
My best memories of Jack happened on the west coast. One particular snowy winter at Pat Bay stands out. Two feet of wet snow fell overnight and all the lines weredown. With the power off, Jack and Dad drove off in blizzard conditions in search of firewood to heat the house. They came back with a car load (a very small car) of presto logs.
Jack will be missed.
