BRIAN H. BUFFEY
December 22, 1933 - October 27, 2017
Brian Buffey passed away peacefully at Markham Stouffville Hospital on October 27, in his 84th year.
Brian is predeceased by his loving wife Brigitte. He will be dearly missed by his Children, Brian, William, Douglas, John Kennedy, Patrick and Meghan, his Grandchildren Douglas, Valerie, Chelsea, Stephen, Gabriel, Johnny, Sara, William and Mollie and his Great-Grandchildren Noah and Anna Lynne and his beloved dog, Iggle. He will be fondly remembered by his daughters-in-law, Elvia, Gail and Rene and his son-in-law, Dennis. He will be missed by many relatives, friends and neighbours.
Brian was born in Toronto in 1933. He started work as a Lather and eventually became the Supervisor of a large construction firm. He moved with Brigitte to Unionville in 1975 and made it his home for over 40 years. They enjoyed walking down Main Street Unionville every week to have coffee or ice cream, visit with friends or walk their dogs. He and Brigitte were members of the Unionville Presbyterian Church.
Brian was a proud and valued member of the Markham Veterans Association and would visit the Vets Hall three to four times a week. He was a member of various Senior Centres in the GTA. He was also an avid pool player and continued to play on competitive teams with pool players of all ages. He particularly enjoyed playing Pool at Bigwigs in Newmarket.
Brian had a phenomenal memory and was a talented poet and story teller. Throughout his life he regaled his friends and family with poetry, stories and jokes which he could recite by heart to the amazement of all. He was asked to host and speak at many functions because of his ability to entertain people.
He loved animals. He was a very social person and enjoyed being with his friends or meeting and talking to new people. Everyone looked forward to running into Brian to hear more stories and poems that would make them smile and brighten their day.
He never hesitated to help out someone in need and volunteered on many occasions to drive someone to appointments or to shop.
Many thanks to the extended family, friends and neighbours of Brian that visited him in the hospital and who were a constant presence in his room. A special thanks to the Markham Veteran Association members who visited. You all gave him much joy, love and laughter.
