Forever Loved, Never Forgotten ...

Wanda Ruddy

June 16, 1938 - June 8, 2023

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Wanda Ruddy (nee Zielinski) who passed peacefully at Southlake, in her 85th year. Survived by her husband of 59 years Peter, and Daughters, Lisa (Rob) and Wanda (Mitch), grandchildren, Peter (Nicole), Maddie, Alexandra, Cailyn, and Olivia, brother Ed, nephew Ed, and niece Sherri-Lynn. Born in Białystok Poland, Wanda's family fled to Germany for the duration of the war and under the Displaced Persons program emigrated to Canada in 1949 where they lived in Oshawa. Wanda worked in the legal department at the city of Oshawa and was a member of St Gregory's Young People's Club where she met her husband.

To Wanda, family was everything. After raising her two daughters, she continued to be a loving caregiver to her grandchildren. Her love of holidays, especially Christmas, was infectious. She was an enthusiastic fan of the Blue Jays, watching every game, and quick to share her thoughts on her most and least favourite players. Wanda shared her baking talents with as many people as she could, much to everyone's delight. Wanda will be missed by her "old" friends, as well as the friends she's made along the way.

The family wishes to thank the incredibly compassionate and caring nurses at Southlake Regional Health Centre, who went over and beyond in their attention to Wanda. The CVICU nurses are special people, but those who provided care in her final days, Toni-Ann, Trish, Nikki, Heather, Shannon (CVS), Josie and especially Adriana, should know our family could not have made it through without you.

Visitation to take place at Dixon Garland Funeral Home on Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 1-3 & 5-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Patricks Parish on Monday, June 12th, 2023 @ 10:30 a.m. A private family Burial to to follow service at Resurrection Cemetery, 355 Taunton Rd E, Whitby, Ontario.
