Branko Markovski, age 89, of Toronto, Ontario passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026.

Born on March 7, 1937, Branko was a beloved member of his community and a devoted family man.

The first to graduate university in his family, he was a proud graduate of Ss. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje.  Branko qualified as a chemist and rose to become the head of operations at one of the largest companies in his native city of Bitola (Kozarata).  Aspiring for a better future for himself, but more particularly for his children, he made the courageous decision to emigrate from  Macedonia to Canada in 1976.  His relentless work ethic and guidance for his children resulted in the successes he initially dreamed of.

At the core, Branko was a people person. He was a very warm and  social man, easily making friends and warm connections wherever he went, even up to his finals days.  He had a special ability to connect with people and leave a warm lasting impression that many remember for  years if not decades.  He loved occasions where there was a gathering, whether it was one on one over a glass of wine (or two), a game of cards (Belot), or a big gathering where he could sing and tell jokes.

Branko was also a sports guy, having played soccer during his youth, but also supporting his sons extensively with constant advice, support and encouragement, and also a fan of all sports in general.  He also came from a musical family, with some of his relatives providing key contributions to Macedonian music. Singing at the dinner table with his four brothers was a common place in his youth. He carried that tradition and would commonly break out into songs either at home or social gatherings. He knew countless songs, but even if he didn't know the words to some, he would still sing out the melodies.

Branko lived a life with a generous spirit and a quick wit. He was always helping people and always wanted to help. He was happiest when hosting friends, watching soccer, and enjoying good food and drink.  His absolute perfect day was simply doing all of these things with his cherished family by his side.

Branko was predeceased by his loving wife, Slavka (Mitreva) Markovski, who passed away in 2014. Together, they raised two boys whom they were both deeply proud of and cherished. He is survived by his devoted sons, Bob (Blagojce) Markovski and Zoran Markovski, along with Zoran’s wife, Karagh. Branko's legacy lives on through his beloved grandchildren, Eve, Aidan, Thea, and Ellie, who brought immense joy to his life.
