Leila Evelyn Femson Obituary

Leila "Lee" Femson (née Farr) passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026.


A lifelong resident of the Markham area, Lee dedicated her career to teaching with the North York Board of Education. Together with her husband, Ronald, she built a career in business, which she continued with determination, wisdom, and integrity. Lee was a devoted Christian whose faith shaped every part of her life. She had a remarkable gift for making friends wherever she went, and her warmth, genuine interest in others, and kind spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met.


Lee had a special love for animals, especially her German Shepherds. She found joy in simple conversations, lasting friendships, and caring for those around her. Whether at church, the grocery store, the bank, or the York Farmers Market, Lee had a remarkable gift for turning everyday encounters into lasting friendships. Family was at the heart of Lee's life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love, encouragement, and unwavering support will be deeply missed. She will be remembered for her steadfast faith, generous heart, and the genuine care she showed to everyone fortunate enough to know her.


Lee was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ronald Femson; her parents, Ross Farr and Ruby Farr (née Waters); and her daughter-in-law, Lee Anne Harper-Femson.


She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Michael Femson; her granddaughters, Lauren Elizabeth Femson and husband Joshua Pascoe, and Kirsten Femson-Ptashnik and husband Randy Ptashnik;her three cherished great-grandchildren, Grace Anne, Gavin, and Irelynn Ptashnik; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.


Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street Markham N., Markham.


A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 17, beginning at 11:30 am at Toronto Free Presbyterian Church, 1600 Neilson Road, Scarborough.


In lieu of flowers, donations in Lee's memory may be made to The Scott Mission or the Ontario SPCA, two organizations whose work she deeply appreciated.
