It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Gordon “Gord” Cairns on May 22, 2026, at the age of 54, at the Ottawa Hospital.
Born on October 1, 1971, to his loving parents Anne Cairns and the late Bruce Cairns, Gord proved to be special. He touched many lives and was always ready to lend a hand or an ear. His infectious laughter, caring soul, generosity, sense of humour, charm, work ethic and love of his family defined him as an individual.
Growing up in Markham, Gord shined as a football player and honed his knack for sales at Space Age Shelving. He developed friendships that remained strong throughout the years.
He pursued a post-graduate education in Ottawa, where he permanently settled down and made a home. Gord carved out a career working for Panasonic, Ricoh and most recently, Arrow Electronics.
For fun, Gord held a great affection for Lego, birds, cooking, movies and his two dogs, Pixie and Lulu.
He will be deeply missed by his mother, Anne; brothers Robert, Bryan and Graham; nephew Stephen; aunt Dorothy; partner Joel [Carrier] and numerous family members, friends and colleagues.
Services to honour Gord will be held Saturday, July 18 th , at 11 am at Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 16 th Main Street, Markham. Visitations will take place on Friday, July 17 th, between 1-3 and 5-7 at Dixon-Garland Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions in Gord’s name can be made to Mental Health, Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
