It is with great sadness we share the passing of our Dad/Grampa on Saturday, June 13, 2026 in his 91st year at Markham Stouffville Hospital, due to a very quick encounter with cancer. But mostly a broken heart of losing his wife (Marg) only 5 months ago.
Gary was the oldest living member "Patriarch", of his clan/family. Leaving big shoes to fill. Born in North York and raised in Agincourt, Ontario to Parents (Predeased) Frank Charles and Delma Agnes Dillman Muriel (Farquhar)Green. Gary was the eldest of 3 children. His sister (Predeased) Kathleen "Kitty" Noble and his remaining younger sibling Frank and Sister In-Law Kathy Green.
Gary was working as a Bell Canada Telephone Man when he joined a work Bowling League. That's when he met and fell in love with a Typist named Margaret who lived in the Beaches area of Toronto.
They married on August 09, 1958. Gary was a devotedly married to his beloved wife Marg (Predeased Jan. 23, 2026) for nearly 68 years, together for 70 years. Together they bought their forever home in Markham, Ontario in August of 1961.
They raised a beautiful family of 4 children. Melanie (Glenn) Paterson, Janice (Shaun) O'Reilly, Michele Green, Darrin (Kathy) Green.
Gary later retired at the age of 55 from the Markham Parks and Recreation Dept. allowing him to spend more time with his family.
He was a very proud Grampa/Pappa to Courtney (Jacob) Leitch, Sean (Zoe) Paterson, Alicia Welby ( Mike Platten), Richard Green, Chantal Welby, Michael Green and Step Grampa to Brianne and Kaileigh O'Reilly.
Gary was very excited and looking to becoming a Great Grampa to "Baby" Leitch arriving in Oct. 2026.
Gary will be greatly missed by his many family members, Nieces, Nephews and his very close longtime friends.
