Margaret Ballantyne passed away peacefully surrounded by family just less than two months shy of her 104th birthday at Parkview Long Term Care in Stouffville, Ontario. Marg was the beloved wife of Alexander Ballantyne (deceased 1994), dear mother of Ronald (Terry) and Nancy (deceased 2007). Marg was born in London, Ontario to Thomas and Maggie Ritchie (both deceased) and predeceased by her five siblings, Ron, Howard, Max, Murray Ritchie and Norma Williamson and long time friend George Blake. She is survived by her son Ron, her four grandchildren Chris (Heather), Darryl (Kristen), Lara (Hugh), Robin (Clay) and her four great grandchildren Noah, Whitney, Cole and Elise.
After her marriage to Alex, Marg moved to Niagara Falls and was an active member of Lundy’s Lane United Church UCW and subsequently St David’s United Church. Marg was an avid bridge player well into her late 90’s and enjoyed playing card games with her grandchildren. Marg was an active volunteer for the Kidney Foundation of Canada for many years along with her daughter Nancy. She was one of the Toronto Blue Jays biggest fans and also enjoyed the occasional visit to Fallsview Casino.
Cremation has taken place and Marg will be interned at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens in Fontill, Ontario alongside Alex and Nancy. Donations may be made in Marg’s memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada and online condolences may be expressed at www.dixongarland.com
