Mary Therese Parker Obituary
Mary Thérèse (Campbell) Parker February 3, 1934 - April 23, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Thérèse Parker (nee Campbell) on April 23, 2026 at the age of 92. Mary is predeceased by her parents, Michael Campbell and Martha (Keleny) Campbell; her husband Robert (Bob); and her only sibling Michael, both in 2022. She is survived by her three daughters, Lorraine Mazereeuw (Mike); Anne Parker (Pat); and Catherine Bayne (Steve). She also leaves her nine grandchildren, Graham (Maegan); Peter (Sandy); Ben (Mariel); Jenna; Patrick; Michelle; Danielle; Nicole; Julie; and four great-grandchildren, Alice; Thomas; Margot and Eric.
Born in Toronto, childhood years were difficult for Mary as she grappled with hospitalisation for Scarlet Fever and hearing loss, her mother’s long absence due to Tuberculosis, and years in foster care as a result. Family reunification came when Mary was twelve, and she soon entered St. Joseph’s Convent School, where she developed many treasured friendships, attended the infamous CYO dances and met her future husband, Bob, along the way.
Mary and Bob raised their three girls in Toronto and maintained a wonderful circle of close friends from their school years affectionately known as The Bridge Group, bridge having been the common interest in their younger years. Together, they had many parties and travel journeys with members of this group for most of their lives, yet Mary’s biggest joy in life was being with her family. From sewing Halloween costumes, to cooking wonderful Sunday dinners, enjoying evenings in front of the TV watching Carol Burnett, Monty Python, Dallas, and many other shows the family enjoyed. Mary was always up for ‘a cuppa’ tea with the girls. As the family grew older, wonderful times were had at the family cottage on Georgian Bay and when the grandchildren came along, Mary was in her element.
Mary possessed a very gentle soul, a creative mind, and unwavering perfectionism. She loved music and singing and spent many years in several choirs over the years. She and Bob were devout Catholics and were active in their Holy Spirit Parish for many years. A proficient seamstress, she made her children’s clothes when they were young, as well as many fashionable garments for herself. In later life, Mary took up quilting and bestowed upon her children and grandchildren beautiful quilts. After losing Bob in 2022, Mary moved into Bloom Retirement Home in Stouffville where she received excellent care. Even with declining health these past few years, Mary always enjoyed her visits with friends and family.
Mary had a very brief illness and received excellent care at Markham Stouffville Hospital
