Barbara Ann Davies Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Davies, following a short battle with cancer at Markham-Stouffville Hospital.

Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband, Murray. She leaves behind her loving sons, Greg (Linda) and Mike (Karen); her cherished grandchildren, Melissa, Nicole, Paige, and Ben; and her much-loved great-grandson, Alden. She will be greatly missed by siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews. Barbara’s family meant everything to her, and she took great pride and joy in watching it grow over the years.

Barb had a true zest for life and lived every moment to the fullest. She married the love of her life in 1962, and soon after began building the family that meant so much to her. Some of the family’s most cherished memories were made at their cottage on Lake Talon. Barb loved being on the water—swimming, going for boat rides, and waterskiing. In fact, to celebrate her 70th birthday, she took one more memorable spin around the lake on her water skis. Time at the cottage was not limited to summer, however, as Barb also loved cross country skiing, tobogganing, and snowmobiling and spent many winters exploring trails across the great white north.

In her younger years, Barb was an avid tennis player. When she could no longer play tennis, she happily turned her attention to golf, a sport she continued to enjoy right up until her 85th birthday. When she wasn’t outdoors, Barb loved indoor games—especially cards—and took great pleasure in a spirited game of Euchre or Bridge, where she was always determined to beat her opponents.

Barb’s love of life also extended to travel. She explored many parts of the world, experiencing remarkable places and meeting wonderful people along the way. Some of the friendships she formed during her travels remained meaningful to her right up until her passing.

Barbara valued community and connection. She enjoyed being involved and joined many clubs and associations over the years, especially after losing her beloved Murray 23 years ago. Her church community became particularly important to her, where she took part in Bible study, UCW, and volunteered at many church events.

Barbara was truly larger than life and touched the hearts of many throughout the years. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

To share in the memories of Barbara’s life, a Celebration of Life will be held at Central United Church in Unionville Saturday April 18th 2026. We will hold a short church service in the Church at 12:30 followed by the celebration of life downstairs from 1-4 pm. Please feel free to drop in to share in the celebration of Barbs life.
