Helen Lenora (Doner) Dyck passed away on January 18, 2026, at Pleasant Manor in Virgil, Ontario at the age of 99.
Helen was born August 23, 1926, to parents Clarence and Margaret (Baker) Doner. She joined older siblings – Harold, Lloyd and Gladys on the family farm at Gormley Ontario. Later, brother Don, joined the family. Helen was raised in a closely-knit, hard-working and fun-loving family. Helen's mother is remembered as a person “full of mischief.” Christian values were learned and modelled in their home and in the Gormley Church (then called Mennonite Brethren in Christ) where they were faithful members.
This family also sang together – something Helen enjoyed doing later in life.
As a young lady, Helen moved to the Toronto area to work. She spent her career working in the Medical Records Department at Grace Salvation Army Hospital.
Helen was a warm, loving and compassionate person taking an interest in people she met along life's way. She had an adventuresome spirit. During her retirement years, she indulged and bought herself a very sporty little red car – something she had always wanted.
Helen married three times, and with each marriage became part of a new family, interested and involved in the lives of her stepchildren and step-grandchildren. Helen was an extremely thankful person. During her latter years living at Pleasant Manor, she would often comment how grateful she was for the place she lived, the care provided and for cards, phone calls, visits etc.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, siblings and their spouses. Helen was also predeceased by her 1st husband, Fred Wilson in 1989, her 2nd husband, Elwood McCague in 2006 and her 3rd husband, Walt Dyck in 2018. She is survived by her stepchildren and their families and many nieces and nephews.
The family gratefully acknowledges the staff at Pleasant Manor, the care and consideration given by Walt's daughters – Sharon Agler and Wendy Dubeau and the involvement of nephew, Paul Schlichter in Helen's life in her latter years.
Funeral service for Helen will be held at Dixon Garland Funeral Home on January 23, 2026, with Sheldon Dyck officiating. Final resting place will be at Heise Hill Cemetery, Gormley, Ontario
