Obituary of Audrey Alma Hewitt

It is with deep sadness our family announces the passing of Audrey Alma Hewitt. She died peacefully in her sleep on December 13, 2025 in her 91st year. Born August 31,1935, she is survived by her husband Jack to whom she was married for an extraordinary 68 years. She also leaves her son Jack (Julie), son Paul (Kari) and daughter Sandra (Keith). Audrey was incredibly proud of her exceptional grandchildren; Ashlee (Brad), Sara, Adam (Melissa), Christopher (Margaret), Matthew (Danica), Laura, Jeffrey (Kate) and Kyle. She also had six wonderful great-grandchildren; Charlotte, Finn, Paisley, Callie, Greyson and Hailey. She was predeceased by grandchildren Scott (1990), Jennifer (1991) and Tyler (2021).

Audrey spent many happy years with Jack at their home in Eagle Lake. They enjoyed many international trips throughout the world with friends from the Haliburton Highlands, and both played an important role in bringing Canoe FM radio to that area. Audrey was an avid gardener, curler, boater but most important she was quite simply a lovely, lovely lady. It was a privilege to call her wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation in Audrey’s name. Special thanks to the kidney dialysis team at Mackenzie Health (Dr. Nicola Matthews, R.N. Megan Polera and P.D. nurse Lejo), and the staff at Sharon Corners Retirement Residence for their warmth and kindness. A private family funeral will held.
