Hans was born in Toronto on February 5, 1944, to Hans Boehnke Sr. and Magdelena (Perchaluk) Boehnke, in their home above the family store on Queen Street West in Toronto. He studied at the University of Toronto before attending the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, where he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. He later achieved his Diplomate in Applied Kinesiology, a field in which he both taught and served on the Board of Examiners for many years.

Hans established his chiropractic practice on Main Street, Markham where for 50 years he cared for thousands of patients. He had a deep passion for helping others and consistently went above and beyond to support those in his care. Known as a strong, kind, ethical, and compassionate man, Hans left a lasting positive impact on all who knew him.

He fully embraced a healthy lifestyle, lifting weights, and proudly maintaining the title of being the strongest 80-year-old at his gym. Beyond his professional and athletic accomplishments, Hans truly valued his family. He was an exceptional father and grandfather, celebrating accomplishments, enjoying travel, family dinners, and simple time together. He was a cherished husband to Coral. He was her constant source of strength and reassurance, always making time to take her out to enjoy the day whether for a simple drive, a special lunch, a trip, or a dinner together. They shared a wonderful life filled with love and companionship. His presence, love, and guidance will be deeply missed by all.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the exceptional nurses, doctors, and respiratory therapists in the Intensive Care Unit at Markham-Stouffville Hospital. Hans himself expressed that he could not have received better care anywhere in the world.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College or Autism Ontario.
