Just heard about this yesterday. He was a great long-time friend to my dad and mom. Have many fond memories of Koinonia get togethers, watching Village Traffic in stakes races / mares opens out at Mohawk and the occasional breakfast/coffee get togethers on Main St., Unionville.
Loved to hear his stories about the horses, investing and politics, he had a fantastic memory for detail. When I told him about one of the gold stocks that I made money with last year, he was able to tell me about the history of the stock as well as some gossip about the original founder of the company. He was sharp (and passionate) as ever when talking about horses and politics as well.
Sad news for sure to all that knew him.

Your Dad was a great friend and gave me "big brother" type counsel, on relationships and other pearls of wisdom Early on in my relationship to my future wife Suzanne, he said numerous times "she's a keeper". He was a wonderful example to all in his caring for Anne.
Such a great friendship. Loved the social times with him and Anne. He was always there when I needed him. If only just to "loosen up" and to recognize things I should be thankful for. He loved to see the "underdog" win or do well. He loved the grit and passion of his "Fight Around", and other horses who "tried", their best. A great person, can not believe he is gone

I was so sad to hear of Don passing. My condolences to the family. I worked with Don at IBM for many many years. He was a great leader and a wonderful friend. My son had his picture taken on the carriage behind fight around. Don was so happy to have that horse. Wonderful memories. I will miss him.

I had the pleasure of working with Don for over 20 years as his Financial Advisor - though I use that title loosely. In truth, i learned more from Don than he likely did from me. He was a true expert in the resource sector, and I often took my cues form him, doing my best to execute his wishes.
Our many conversations spanned investing, family, his love of horses, and the world around us. Don was thoughtful, sharp, and deeply passionate about the things he cared about.
I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I will miss him greatly.
May God have mercy on his soul, and may he find his Pegasus in the cosmos and in heaven.
Goodbye, Don
