In Loving Memory of David Michael Macdonald
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Dad, David Macdonald, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, who left us peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by love.
Dave was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Anne, with whom he shared a beautiful life and a loving family. He leaves behind his devoted children, Brad (Kelly) Macdonald and Candice (Andrew) Mackie, and his adored grandchildren, Sarah, James, and Madison, who brought him endless pride and joy.
Dave’s vibrant career reflected his dynamic personality — from the spirited days of owning A&A Records stores in the 1970s, to successful roles at Honeywell, Amdahl, and eventually joining his family in a real estate team at REMAX. Ever the storyteller, Dave also had a natural gift for writing — creative, witty, and full of heart.
He built a life full of laughter and love in Unionville, where he created countless cherished memories. His favourites include Main Street, endless pool parties, many rounds of golf and family gatherings at York Downs — often accompanied by a glass of Cabernet (always a 9oz!) — were among the moments he treasured most. He will be fondly remembered throughout the town as “EIEIO”.
A lover of travel, enjoying sun-soaked days on the beaches of Aruba was always the destination with both family and friends.
A true character, Dave was known for his warmth, wit, and one-liners — including his favourite: "I’m not sleeping, I’m just resting my eyes." Now, he truly gets the well-deserved rest he’s earned.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Donna, for the love and companionship she gave Dave in his later years. We are so grateful he found someone as special as you.
Dave’s presence, stories, and humour will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on in the lives he touched.
