Obituary of Wanda Tobias

In Loving Memory of Wanda Tobias
October 18, 1931 - September 5, 2025

Wanda Tobias passed away peacefully at MacKenzie Health Hospital in Richmond Hill in the early morning hours of September 5th at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 61 years, Walter Tobias. Wanda was a cherished mother to Henry and Daniel, a caring mother-in-law to Jo-Ellen (deceased) and Judy, and a proud grandmother to Ryan, Alyssa, and Alden.

Wanda built her family in southern Etobicoke where she had a career as a legal secretary. She surrounded herself with love, faith, and the close bond of her three sisters - Sophie, Helen, and Laura. Her sharp mind and enduring presence and support made her the heart of the family. She was proud of her Polish culture being a long-standing member of St John’s Polish National Catholic Church where she helped volunteered for countless parish events.

Wanda was a lifelong sports fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays, as well as wrestling. She enjoyed playing bingo and treasured weekend getaways to Buffalo to visit friends and shop. Fishing at Pigeon Lake was a shared joy with her late husband Walter, creating many cherished memories together.

Her legacy of kindness, strength, and support will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A Celebration Mass will be held at St. John’s Polish National Catholic Church, 186 Cowan Ave, Toronto, on September 28th at 11 am.
