Obituary of Mildred Gimblette
In Loving Memory of Mildred Gimblette
October 1, 1925 – July 23, 2025
Alliston, Ontario
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Mildred on July 23, 2025, at the age of 99 in Alliston, Ontario. Born on October 1, 1925, Mildred lived a full and vibrant life. She spent many years working at Scotiabank and later helped in her son-in-law’s clothing store, Hartman 85 Main doing the books and gift wrapping for 28 years, always bringing kindness and care to those around her. A proud and devoted fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, she never missed a game and held the title (in the hearts of many) as the team’s biggest fan.
Mildred considered living to 99 an achievement—and so did we. But more than the years, it was the love she gave and received that truly marked her life. She took the greatest joy in watching her grandchildren grow into incredible adults and start beautiful families of their own.
She is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughter Janice (Victor), her son Bill (Carol), her sister Betty (Doug), niece Linda (Doug), nephew Blair, and her cherished grandchildren Natalie (Dave), Ryan (Quyen), and Lauryne. Her great-grandchildren Aiden, Ivy, Fiona, Jordan, and Nathan will carry forward her stories and spirit. She is predeceased by her beloved husband George, with whom she shared many happy years.
Mildred’s favourite saying, “Such is life,” captured her resilient and accepting nature. She faced each chapter with grace, humour, and a quiet strength.
A private celebration of life will be held for immediate family on what would have been Mildred’s 100th birthday on October 1. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Matthews House Hospice https://matthewshousehospice.akaraisin.com/ui/MHHFoundation/donations/start in Alliston, Ontario, in honour of Mildred’s memory.
