Obituary of Rosa Welfle
Our family would like to express the passing of our Mother, and Oma. Just months away from her 101st birthday. She really gave life a good run. Her favourite meal was French fries and onion rings with a nice sausage, without fail! She has been living independently in a lovely retirement home in Brooklin for almost 4 years. Prior to that maintaining her own home and Garden in Scarborough for 50 years. She was born in Yugoslavia and lived through World War II in ways only read about in history books. During that challenging time she met a handsome young Polish man named Georg , who later became her husband. Once they were free to do so, and with the assistance of the Red Cross, they and Martha arrived in Saskatchewan in 1953 then eventually in Ontario. Like all immigrants to this country they worked extremely hard as a team to succeed, learn the language and fit in and contributed to many worthy causes. She leaves son Robert (Wendy), grandson, Tom, (Kim), and friends from the old neighbourhood in Scarborough and her many friends at the Court in Brooklin. We thank Pastor Roy from her church, Bethesda Lutheran in Unionville for her sendoff. She was predeceased by husband, Georg and daughter Martha. Please support the Red Cross in her memory in lieu of flowers.
