Obituary of Suzie Pike

It is with great sadness that the family of Georgina Suzetta Pike (nee Reesor) share her passing on May 22, 2025 at Parkview Long-Term Care home in Stouffville, Ontario. Suzie was born on January 2, 1928, and lived 97 beautiful years, many of those with her beloved husband Jack (John Lawrence Pike), until his passing in 1999.

Suzie was the adored only child of George and Nora Reesor (Bailey), both pre-deceased. She leaves behind a large family legacy, including children Gordon (pre-deceased), Susan (Richard Wannop), Brenda (Donald Hollands pre-deceased), Frederick (pre-deceased) (Beth Crichton), and Nora (Glen Phillips). She was also a loved mother-figure to John Wade and Robert Ramer.

She was proud of her grandchildren, Megan (Neil), Andrew, Alison (Mark), Samantha (Drew), Laura (Ryan), Dana (Matt), Darren and Katherine (pre-deceased) and great- grandchildren Mason, Hudson, Emerson, Lillian, Emily, Jack, Hannah, Violet, Zach, Iris and Betty. Suzie’s devotion to the community, including the Markham Fair and Locust Hill United Church, created many lifelong friendships and connections.

Her childhood included incredible stories of resilience and adventure in Northern Ontario. An animal rehabilitator, former bootlegger, trained nurse and eventual world traveler, Suzie was unapologetically authentic. She loved to share a good piece of news and was great at ensuring she kept in touch with those she cared about. Suzie dedicated herself to the family farm, loved a good tennis match on television, endless puzzles and crosswords. Later in life she enjoyed travelling the world with Jack, and eventually her grandchildren, sharing her values of exploration, education and contributing to the community. An exceptionally intelligent woman, she never missed an episode of Jeopardy. Her family firmly believed that she would have achieved victory had she formally participated in the show.

Suzie had a real spark, and was a generous spirit who lived a long and beautiful life. The world is a better place because she was in it, and she will be tremendously missed.

The family invites those who wish to celebrate and honour Suzie’s life to join them at Dixon- Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street North, Markham on Sunday, June 1, 2025 for a visitation with the family from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm. A family interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to Parkview Long Term Care home, where Suzie received exceptional care and community in the last few years of her life.

The family would also appreciate the sharing of memories and photos on Suzie’s tribute page on the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home website.
