Geoffrey Davis

Obituary of Geoffrey William Davis

Geoffrey Davis passed away on April 17th, 2025, a few months short of his 66th birthday. He died at his home in Toronto after a lengthy illness.

Geoffrey was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario to Jack and Beverley Davis on August 19th, 1959. He went to Markham District High School, graduating in 1978.

Educated in the recording arts at Trebas Institute, Geoffrey had an extensive career in various aspects of the music industry.

He became a lighting and audio designer and director for Markham Theatre, The El Mocambo, Westbury Sound and Lighting, and countless bands and theatrical productions. Branching out to computer graphic work for CITY-TV, he also became production assistant for many award shows, including The Genies, The C.A.S.B.Y.s, The Junos, and the Geminis. One of his favourite jobs was working for the Super Dave Osbourne Show. He rose from driver to assistant location and stage manager, and later to director, subsequently having many stories to tell. All this time, however, he found himself battling increasingly ill health and eventually was no longer able to do physically demanding work.

He was then hired by Network Connections in customer service. This led to his becoming a computer repair expert with private customers.

On off hours, he was a softball and pool enthusiast, and enjoyed watching films, reading and writing. He put his gift with words to good use, writing articles and promotional materials for musicians. In his final  year, he was co-authoring a script for a tv series.

Geoffrey loved animals from an early age, especially cats. As his health began to decline, he received tremendous comfort from a special cat named Beauty. When it was discovered that Beauty suffered from  diabetes, Geoff nursed him in turn.

Predeceased by his father Jack Davis in 1995, Geoff is survived by his mother Beverley and siblings Melanie, Brendan and Andrea.

Geoffrey’s wit and outgoing nature made an impression on all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
