Obituary of Elizabeth Connor

Elizabeth Connor, peacefully passed away, at the age of 93, with family by her side on January, 20th 2025. Elizabeth, affectionately known as Betty, was born May 24th, 1931 in Edinburgh Scotland to David McArthur and Margaret Johnson. Betty grew up at 17 Clearburn Crescent  with her two siblings, Rita, and David. 

Betty met the love of her life William Connor, and they were married August 1st 1953. They had three children: Grahame was born in Edinburgh Scotland, Dyanne in Halifax Nova Scotia, and Brian in Scarborough Ontario. Betty loved flowers and spent hours in her garden. She enjoyed reading, traveling, indulging in desserts and singing all day, especially to her grandchildren. She had the gift of starting spontaneous and humorous conversations with strangers wherever she went including in the check-out line. 

Elizabeth (Betty) will be remembered and greatly missed by her children and her nine grandchildren; Adam, Candice, Brendan, Nolan, William, Samantha, Dylan, Cassandra, and Brianna. Daughters-in-Law Cydny and Melony, son-in-law Dan, granddaughter-in-law Sinem, grandson-in-law Tiago, and her great-grandson Camren. 

Join us for a celebration of Betty’s life at 1:00pm on May 24th at Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street North, Markham. Directly after the service refreshments will be served down the street at The Duchess of Markham Pub, 53 Main Street, Markham.
