It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Glady on April 8, 2025 in her 100th year. Predeceased by her husband Tom, she was the youngest daughter of George and Irene Maynard. Dear Mother of Steve (Karen), Marie (Scott), Dan (Heather) and Ron (Susan). She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Grace, Claire, Larry, Michelle, Tom, Caitlin, Noel, Iain, John (predeceased) and Connor (predeceased). She was Great Grandmother (GG) to Jack, Kate, Zoe, Layla, Elodie and Lily. Glady was also a foster Mom to several children, many of whom have kept in close contact over the years.
Glady came from a big family and was the last of her siblings. She is predeceased by her brothers Mark, Jack, Alfred, George, Ross, Allan and Robert, and sisters Viola, Alma, Eileen, Rheta and Marjorie. She was "Auntie Glad" to their extended families.
Born on Main Street Markham on April 16th, 1925 she never really left the village for any extended period. Always willing to help she volunteered for several organizations over many years including Markham Minor Hockey, Markham District Veterans Association, Markham Fair, Grace Church, Markham Clothing Centre and the Markham Foodbank where she served as a Director for many years.
Friends may call at the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street North, Markham on Tuesday April 15th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral Service will be held at Grace Anglican Church, 19 Parkway Avenue, Markham on Wednesday, April 16th at 11:30 am. Reception to follow.
