Obituary of Jim White

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jim White on March 15, 2025, at the age of 73. He will be missed dearly and remembered lovingly by Cathy, his wife of 45 years, daughters Patti Lane (Mitch), Rachel Gemmell (Jonathan), and Megan White (Jeremy). He was a proud Grandpa to 6 grandchildren (Nora, Ellie, Jane, Robin, Hannah, Henry). Jim greatly enjoyed his retirement, following a 40 year career at Bell Canada. Jim spent many years in union leadership and was a proud union member. He was an avid curler and enjoyed woodturning, reading, and spending time at the family cottage, but nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his loving family at home.

Forever the devoted Dad, Jim supported all of his daughters’ interests and passions with great joy. His grandkids all adored their playful, sweet, and nurturing Grandpa. In recent years, Jim and Cathy enjoyed travelling on great trips. He was truly there for his family in every sense of the word. Jim’s easy-going nature, sense of humour, and calming presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Services for Jim will be held at Dixon-Garland Funeral Home. A visitation will be on Sunday March 23, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 PM and a funeral service will be on Monday March 24, 2025 at 10:00 AM, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation or The Friends of Killarney Park.
