Cathy and family, so sorry to hear about the passing of Jim. I have fond memories of Jim from our younger years. Jim and I were high school friends and worked together as teenagers at Towers. We later hitch hiked to Alberta. Jim was an usher at my wedding, and I was an usher at his wedding. Sad news to hear of his passing.

For a number of years, I was involved in the Union representing technicians and operators at Bell Canada, as was Jim. I had many occasions to work with him and often just called him to get his opinion/advice. Jim had the knack of keeping his cool and putting things in perspective, skills that helped get us through some tough situations. He was a great guy- smart, hard-working, and to his family and friends, I am so sorry for your loss.

We had the good fortune to meet Jim and Cathy in the Fall of 2010 when we joined the Unionville Curling Club. Like many, we quickly hit it off with them and that has continued over the years.
Our friendship continued outside the Curling Club and in Spring of 2011, we discovered their patience with our bad golf games. Regardless, Jim was always helpful and encouraging with golf, well – with everything for that matter, be it woodworking, current events or lawn care! (Jim was also a master golf-ball-finder - usually a few dozen balls per game!)
Seeing them regularly, our friendship with Jim and Cathy grew over the years and we then achieved the envious status of a Killarney invitation every summer or fall. First invited to their cottage near Killarney in 2012, we loved the place and all the added amenities over the years: wonderful hikes, great meals; quiet reading times and fabulous friendship. For a few years, Jim and I shared landscaping duties at UCC, quickly and almost unspoken, dividing up the tasks of picking up the trash and fallen branches, grass cutting and trimming. Those times, working away with Jim for a few hours at the Curling Club, solidified our friendship.
With that friendship, we also came to know Jim and Cathy’s accomplished and beautiful daughters and their husbands, and then have vicariously enjoyed their expanding family of now six grandkids. Yes, with a wife, 3 daughters and now 5 granddaughters (and 1 grandson), all talking a mile-a-minute, we quickly accepted that Jim was, not only a great friend, but also a saint.
We were truly blessed to meet and come to know Jim and Cathy. We will always remember Jim as a curling, golf, outdoorsman and UCC landscaping partner, but most of all, as a very dear and faithful friend.
