Obituary of David Edward Lennon

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Edward Lennon, born November 20, 1943 in Montreal, son of Edward Lennon and Frances Lennon (O’Grady). Dave was a very proud graduate of Loyola HS and Loyola College with a BA in history and Political Science. He then went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Political Science as well as an M Ed. He always strived for excellence. He was a High School teacher in Baldwin Cartier Catholic School Board on the West Island of Montreal where he quickly advanced to a Vice Principal position. He moved with his family to Markham in 1982 and worked as principal at St. Robert’s HS and Father Bressani in the YCDSB. He left a significant legacy of leadership that influenced many.

A long-time member of Brimacombe Ski Club and Whitevale Golf Course, he was an avid sports fan. He coached football at the high school level and went on to coach football for 9 years at McGill University, taking one team to the Vanier Cup. Yet no professional achievement was ever as important to him as his love and pride for his family. Dave is survived by the love of his life, Lynda (Gillespie), his son Chris (Gill) and daughter Jennifer (Oliver) and his grandchildren Eilidh, Rory, Cashel and Scarlett and sister Marian. At home, he was always offering wisdom, guidance and unconditional love to his children and grandchildren. His witty sense of humour will always be remembered by his family and friends. A man who loved routine and had a specific time for everything all scripted in his beloved Daytimer. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will follow at Whitevale Golf Course on Saturday April 5 from 12-3pm.
